Gregory Gulch #1 Mine Tailings Remediation - CERCLA Site
GEMG personnel prepared remedial design and remedial action documents for the Gregory Gulch #1 mine tailings site for the client that was part of the Clear Creek/Central City Superfund Site. The remediation documents were approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and construction began in the summer of 1998.
The remediation consisted of excavating impacted soils and disposal at an approved landfill. The site was graded for slope stability and rip rap placed along the stream channel to prevent erosion. The upper slopes of the site were seeded with native grasses. The final report was submitted to and approved by the EPA in March 1999.
Gregory Gulch #2 Mine Tailings Remediation - CERCLA Site
GEMG personnel prepared remedial design and remedial action documents for the Gregory Gulch #2 mine tailings site for the client that was part of the Clear Creek/Central City Superfund Site. The remediation documents were approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and construction began in the spring of 1999.
The remediation consisted of excavating impacted soils and disposal at an approved landfill. The site was graded for slope stability along the stream channel to prevent erosion. Mine tailings and a mine shaft were left onsite because of stability issues with the roadway. The remaining mine tailings were covered with clean soil and stabilized for future development or seeding in the spring of 2000. The final report was submitted to and approved by the EPA in September 1999.
CERCLA Remediation and Construction Management - Boodle Mill Facility
GEMG personnel prepared remedial design and remedial action documents for the Boodle Mill mine tailings site for the client that was part of the Clear Creek/Central City Superfund Site. The remediation documents were approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and construction began in the fall of 1999.
The remediation consisted of excavating impacted soils and disposal at an onsite disposal cell. Remediation activities also consist of drainage improvements to reduce the surface water run-on at the site. A French drain system will also be installed to capture groundwater from the disposal cell area. The disposal cell will be seeded with vegetation for stability. Also located on the site is a wetlands are that will be enhanced. Construction was completed in the summer of 2000. The final report was submitted to and approved by the EPA in August 2000.
Fuel Blending Facility Audit
GEMG personnel conducted an environmental records review of files at various sites as part of a financial transaction with a lending institution. GEMG personnel reviewed environmental records, existing environmental assessments, and interviewed staff from the environmental department. The purpose of GEMG personnel’s review was to evaluate whether any major liabilities were present at the facilities that could affect the company financially.
